More Information about our Parish
St. Aidan's belongs to the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of the British Isles and Ireland. We are in communion with all the other Orthodox Churches worldwide, Antioch being one of the ancient sees of the Christian Church, (Acts 11:26). You can find out about our saint, St. Aidan of Lindisfarne here.
St. Aidan’s uses English in all its services and all are welcome to attend. After the Divine Liturgy on Sundays, tea, coffee and soft drinks are served. After this we have a weekly presentation on varied aspects of Orthodox Faith and Life. The slides associated with these are archived on this site. We also have a well stocked Bookstore and lending Library with hundreds of books and other resources to get better acquainted with our faith. We run a 3 year Diploma Course in Orthodoxy entitled E-Quip with personal tutorials and online learning. We also have Childrens’ activities after the Sunday Liturgy outside the major feasts of the Nativity (Christmas) and Pascha (Easter).
Fr. Gregory and Fr. Emmanuel (assistant priest) comprise our clergy team. Fr. Gregory serves as Orthodox Chaplains to the Universities in Manchester and is also a visiting chaplain at Manchester Prison. The clergy also attend several hospitals in Manchester, Salford and Stockport. Fr. Gregory also serves on the Theological Committee of the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops of the British Isles. Fr Emmanuel is our Bookstore Manager and a major contributor to our E-Quip Course in Orthodox Faith and Life.
